Great post, I found it very useful. I’d like to see some integration between Coda and Transmit to deal with the FTP issues.

I agree. Some bookmark/site management for multiple computers would be nice. I would guess it’s in the works. I hope so as this has bothered me too.

As a person who from time to time develops websites from multiple computers, it would be nice if Panic would add synchronization of Coda’s “Sites” – just like they do with Transmit’s Favorites – via MobileMe. Why they can do it for Transmit and not for Coda is beyond me. Maybe/Hopefully it’s in the works…

This functionality also exists in Coda. You just have to arrow past the tag. Doing so makes a radar effect animation occur over the corresponding open/close tag.

Ok EDIT it has great code completion.

I do miss code folding, very much, or at least lik komodo you can select a tag in html mode and it highlights the corresponding open or close tag. Handy

But Coda does not have code completion. Least not as good as espresso or even other apps like komodo and dreamweaver.

I didn’t discover code folding in Espresso until later. But I agree, it’s a feature I miss when using Coda. I’m hoping they add code folding to the next version of Coda. It’s extremely cool.

Great to see reviews that are this insightful and really get into the nitty gritty of the apps. I’d have mentioned the lack of cold folding in Coda.. although I guess it gets mentioned quite a lot everywhere else. I’m also curious if either program can automatically do CSS code shortcuts (wrapping all the background properties into one), and what the code hinting is like (if any).
As the new kid on the block I’m looking for Espresso to grow to be competitive with Coda. They’ve just released 1.1 which is reportedly a significant update.. wonder how far it goes correcting some of the problems you had.

Thanks, Paul. Glad you liked it. Espresso is a fine app, and there’s much about it I like. Coda still wins in my book, though.
