Also not to forget the Memory Hog issue that was there in Adobe Photoshop CS2.. is now (i hope) resolved in CS3...!! I have a 3GB, 2Ghz core duo system, and CS2 almost ate up 1.5Gs of my ram in 10 mins :)...
Photoshop UI scripting and JSX programming has been much improved in this version too. I have already wrote a bunch of JS codes to automate alot of my work related stuff...!

The only irksome thing about ctrl-tab (which, I agree, should be customizable) is that it cycles through minimized windows. If I've minimized a document to the Dock, it's quite annoying to have it pop back up as soon as I start ctrl-tabbing through.

Marc,

First off, thank you so much for the tip about switching between open windows. I didn't think there was any way to do this, and I'm very happy to finally know that there is. I'm not able to find this info in the application help or in any of the pull-downs. It's a shame it's so buried. Or maybe I just missed it somehow, but I've been looking for years.

I do think there's a certain logic to changing PS key commands to match the ones in the OS though. It seems to me that by choosing to stick with your original key commands to help legacy users, you're actually doing a disservice to everyone: legacy users, instead of having to relearn one or two new key commands now have to use a different one in PS than they do in virtually every other application on their computer. Frankly, they've already relearned Command-H (and others) by using it in all the other apps, and in the OS. Including these key command in PS won't significantly impair legacy users, and it will greatly speed the adoption of PS by new users who are already familiar with the Mac OS and its attendant apps. Giving us the ability to customize these key commands helps a lot, but I would still argue that the defaults should match those of the OS. Let legacy users customize things how they want. OR, have a key-command preset for legacy users that uses old PS key-commands, and a standard one that uses those of the OS for users who prefer that. That would be the best of both worlds!

Anyway, my two cents. Thanks a lot for your comments. Much appreciated!

-systemsboy

Photoshop since the first OS X version has supported using Ctrl-Tab to switch amongst open documents. This is because Cmd-~ has since Photoshop 1.0 meant "show all channels of the current layer" a command ingrained in a great many fingers of a great many pro Photoshop users.

This is likewise why Cmd-H continues to mean "hide extras" since the time when Apple usurped it to mean Hide Current Application. Photoshop by default uses Cmd-Ctrl-H to mean Hide Current Application. You can switch the Cmd-H / Cmd-Ctrl-H keys in the Edit> Keyboard Shortcuts dialog under the Photoshop menu.

Point taken on the fact we should also allow customizing Cmd-~ and Ctrl-Tab.

And thank you again for the kind words about the CS3 installer. It represents a huge effort and it's always gratifying to see unsolicited feedback from users who appreciate it. Thank you.

Matt,

The changes to the installer are wonderful! And yes, we sysadmins totally notice these things and appreciate them greatly. I'm so glad to hear you talking about ARD support. That's fantastic. Thanks for letting me know.

I'll try to do a full post when we finally get our final copy of CS3.

It's so great to see people thinking about little things like this. They really make my job a whole lot better. Thanks for all your efforts.

-systemsboy

Systems Boy,
I work at Adobe on the core installer technology that the PS CS3 beta installer leverages and would like to thank you for the kind words. Most of the time the only time I see the installer mentioned is when it doesn't work, so your post was most appreciated :) In addition to the features you noticed, we've also made each payload (Fonts, Bridge, etc.) transactional and have extensive logging to help you diagnose any runtime issues. And we are planning ARD support with a cross-platform configuration file format. I'm looking forward to your impressions of the GM version. Thanks again.
